Wireless and Portable
Ticketing Proven on PDA's
25th February 2002
Working as a partner of
Compaq, wireless
ticketing has now been made possible using a PDA over the both the mobile
phone network and using wireless Ethernet technology.
The Data Factors Internet
ticketing software, which allows real-time
choice of seats, was demonstrated today running on the Compaq iPaq
PDA. It works with both communication over the GSM mobile network and
using Ethernet wireless technology.
The slower network speed on
the mobile network is compensated for by using simple browser detection
technology and for PDA's removing and unnecessary site graphics.
Phil Baldwin, CTO for
Data Factors said, "This allows us to provide mobile solutions and
temporary ticketing points for one of events. Using industry standard wireless
networking, this makes ticketing much more flexible."
