Tottenham Hotspur Signs Five
Year Contract for Internet View-From-Seat Ticketing System
6th February
2002
The first British
soccer club to use an online Internet ticketing
system, with "view-from-seat™"
technology, completely integrated with their box office systems, will be
Tottenham Hotspur.
"Spurs" has
signed a five-year exclusive Internet ticketing contract, which allows
their fans to pick individual seats and then see the view from that
location. The world leading technology is to be provided by a UK company.
Tottenham, the Premiership Football Club, are actively encouraging
communication with their customer base, using the Internet. As owners Enic
seek to improve customer service and increase Internet use, they will
shortly be selling match day tickets on the Internet. The unique aspects
of the ticketing service are:
- Fans choose their actual seat
- The choice is from any
made available by the box office
- They get a high quality
image of the view from that location.
Karen Murphy, Ticket Office Manager for Spurs said, “We have
been using Data Factors ticketing
services for many years. To provide the best possible customer
service, we need to ensure that the Internet is an integral part of our
in-house real-time ticketing systems. The ease of use and speed of
processing of the in-house systems convinced us that the same skills
could be quickly deployed on the Internet.
By total integration between the in-house and Internet based
systems, we ensure low operational overhead, control of fan segregation,
and fair distribution of tickets to our members with or without Internet
access. We manage a single online ticketing system, with a single
integrated database of customers.”
With the view-from-seat™,
fans will be able to zoom in and out to help them decide where to sit.
If they are not happy with the view, they will be able to select
alternate seats. A British company, already providing many football,
rugby, ice hockey and other sports venues with ticketing systems, is
claiming a world first. Data Factors is providing all the software and
associated systems to allow fans to choose their seat and pay for their
ticket on the Internet.
